Bruce is almost the first guy at the stadium and the last to leave. With his dedication, he his able to work on the mechanics of his swing until they are just right. Additionally, he can work on his timing which may be even more important. By able to time opposing pitcher’s fastballs, he can hit the ball with extreme force and into the bleachers for a home run.
Bruce is also an intelligent hitter. What this means is that he studies tape of opposing pitchers. By figuring out their delivery and potential pitch sequences, he can better predict what pitch is coming and at what time. Once he predicts this important piece of information, the fact that he perfected his swing via many hours of hard work allows him to hit the pitch hard.
Jay Bruce’s success can be directly attributed to hard work on his swing and studying opposing pitchers. Because of his attention to detail, he feels confident every time he steps to the plate. This confidence allows him let loose his talent.
